Global Running Day

Today, we awoke to find that it was Global Running Day — a welcomed surprise (and challenge) for a covert crew of footwear designers like us. After doing a little research on what this healthy holiday would entail, we found the ask was quite simple; pledge to run on June 1st, any distance. Consider it done.

But would we take to the streets or the trails?

Global Running Day

We took to the streets — a humble run, but a run nonetheless.

Each Wednesday, we do a pop-up boot camp at a local Portland park and because Global Running Day was an unexpected physical event (in addition to this grueling constant we put ourselves through), we opted to run to the park instead of driving. Yes, it added a little bit more sweat to the daily grind but it was our pledge to the cause. A cause worth running for!

Global Running Day is a day for people around the world to celebrate the joys of running. Participation is easy—just pledge to take part in some type of running activity on June 1, 2016. It can be a solo lap around the block, a long run with friends, or even a game of tag with your kids. The key is to share your passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving. Additionally, the Million Kid Run is about making fitness fun and inspiring kids to embrace running as a way to get healthy and fit.

So far, nearly a million people have pledged to run on Global Running Day and GHOST WORKS was proud to do our part, supporting such a fine cause. Of course, next year we won’t plan double-duty workouts and therefore pledge to run a more impressive distance — hold us to it.
